A group of Israeli combat soldiers serving their last weeks in the military participate in a series of army sponsored courses designed for those who have not yet finished High School. Part of the curriculum includes a Civic Studies Course where participants are confronted by one of the teachers and are made to think about such topics as Human Rights and Democracy. They engage in heated debates, re-living their dramatic military experiences during the classroom exchanges, illustrating how their political views have been affected by their various social/ethnic backgrounds along with military life; a fascinating process dealing with the efforts of one original teacher to open up young people’s minds, in a country full of contradictions and violence.
